Half-Minute Hero heads to PSN in late September

Half-Minute Hero made its debut on the PSP back in 2009.  The game tasked the player with saving the world in 30 seconds, a daunting task for sure. It was later ported to Xbox Live Arcade as Half-Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax, sporting tweaked visuals and modes.

Now, the 8-bit style game will be making yet another appearance, this time on the PlayStation Network and Steam. Half-Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax Ultimate Boy will launch on September 27 on both platforms and will include all the bells and whistles found in the PSP and XBLA versions of the game.

Ratchet Deadlocked HD coming to PSN later this year

Yesterday at PAX, Insomniac Games announced that the fourth installment in the Ratchet & Clank series will be heading to the PlayStation Network later this year. Ratchet Deadlocked was oddly omitted from the recently launched Ratchet & Clank Collection, but now it appears that the game will be a download-only title. No price or date has been confirmed as of yet.

Ratchet Deadlocked launched on the PlayStation 2 back in 2005. The game deviated from the tried and true R&C formula by focusing more on action, rather than striking a balance between action and platforming.

The Vita gets more PS One Classics

It would’ve been nice to have a bunch of PSOne Classics readily available to play on the Vita, especially when the handheld is having a bit of a drought of new games. That didn’t happen, unfortunately, when the Vita update v.1.80 went live earlier this week. Sure, it brought PSOne Classics support to the handheld, but not all games were compatible with the Vita and only nine games –yeah, nine of them– were available on the PlayStation Store. The European PS Store had over 100 titles! There was also a workaround to get the PSOne Classics not available on the Store to play on the Vita.

Luckily, Sony is reacting to the backlash by making more PS One Classics available. Sony’s Morgan Haro has revealed that the following games are now up on the Vita’s PlayStation Store: Read the rest of this entry »

Instant Games Collection will add Borderlands this September

Okay, at this point it’s ridiculous to go without a PlayStation Plus subscription. The PlayStation Network’s Instant Games Collection adds an insane amount of bang for your buck by offering retail games and smaller PSN titles for free. LittleBigPlanet 2, Infamous 2, Pac-Man Championship Edition DX and two episodes of The Walking Dead are just some of the free games you get by subscribing to the service. Now, you can add the first Borderlands game to that list.

PlayStation Plus members will be able to download Borderlands for free on September 4th and to make the deal sweeter, the game’s DLC will be on sale at 50% off.

Psychonauts coming to the PlayStation Network

It’s good to see the PS2 Classics library grow and it’s even better when it gets added with cult-hits like Psychonauts. And that’s exactly what’s happening because Double Fine, the developer behind Costume Quest and Stacking, will have its first game launch on the PlayStation Network on August 28th.

A price for the game has not yet been confirmed, but considering that all other PS2 games on PSN cost $9.99, it would be a safe bet that this game gets slapped with the same price tag. It’s unclear if Psychonauts will be available in other territories.

Scott Pilgrim DLC coming later this year

New DLC for Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World: The Game was recently announced, which adds another character to the roster and online multiplayer. When originally announced there was no word on when we would be seeing this new content on PSN, but this has now changed. A representative from Ubisoft told Joystiq that “the DLC for Scott Pilgrim will be releasing this fall”, although still a little vague, it is comforting to know that after 2 years the fans finally get what they want.

Rainbow Moon Review

As far as strategy RPGs go, they’re one of the hardest games to recommend to newcomers. They’re time-consuming, for one, and the amount of depth in those games can be really intimidating to anyone unfamiliar with the genre. While SideQuest Studios’ Rainbow Moon is very much a hardcore SRPG, it’s one that offers more than enough to satisfy veterans and people looking to dip their feet in new waters. Scott Pilgrim getting online multiplayer, new DLC

It took two years, but Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game is finally getting the most frequently requested feature: online multiplayer. Oh, and it’s getting a new character, too.

The upcoming DLC will add Scott’s roommate Wallace Wells to the roster and, of course, the online feature. The DLC will hit XBLA on August 19th for 400 MSP ($5). PSN will be getting the add-on as well, but a price and date have not been confirmed yet.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale beta available this fall

If you weren’t invited to the most recent beta for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (I’m sure your invitation got lost), you’ll get a second chance this fall when it goes public.

Aside from announcing the public beta, SuperBot has also acknowledged the most recent leak that revealed a chunk of the character roster and levels that were, at that point, not yet confirmed. The studio has since confirmed the accuracy of the information leak and has teased another character announcement at Gamescom.
