Sony poised to release free-to-play SingStar

It appears that Microsoft’s recent release of Happy Wars as the only current-gen free-to-play console title will be short-lived. Confirmation has not been given by Sony, but the game’s Twitter page has been hinting at a release as a free PSN app.

Perhaps Sony is hoping that by offering the game as a free app, more people will download songs from the game’s online store. Either way, there is much to be excited for.

Recently, Sony has aggressively pursued the development of the free-to-play portions of its digital distribution platforms. More apps have been showing up for free on PSN, in addition to the free downloads PlayStation Plus users already have access to. The upcoming release of Dust 514 is another free-to-play title that Sony is hoping to have success with.

Regardless of what happens with SingStar in relation to free-to-play, look for the title to launch this week.

Grand Theft Auto 3 no longer MIA, maybe

As many of you know, GTA III was originally scheduled to release at the end August. According to Sony, “unforeseen problems” kept this from happening. No time limit was given as to how long this would take, but if what whas been seen on the Asia PlayStation site is to be believed, then this could be arriving as early as next week. Whenever this new PS2 Classic does finally drop, it will cost $9.99, a small price to pay for such a fun game.

Toejam & Earl is finally coming to PSN

If you ever owned a SEGA Genesis or knew someone who did growing up, then you have probably already played Toejam & Earl. Though you may know them from their brief reappearance on the Xbox, but sadly, it was poorly made; which caused it to be quickly forgotten and swept under the rug. If you are still asking yourself, who the heck are those guys. Well they are two of the funkiest, grooviest aliens you will ever meet. Well, if what an unnamed source told Siliconera, then we will be seeing Toejam & Earl and its predecessor Toejam & Earl in Panic on Funkatron as SEGA’s next entry in their ‘Vintage Collection’. If this doesn’t excite you then you need to check your pulse and if by some chance you have never seen either one of these games, don’t worry. We found a few gameplay videos for you on YouTube that you can check out just after the jump.

Drake and Big Daddy Possibly in PlayStation All-Stars

Image and video hosting by TinyPicUpdate: Both characters were announced during Sony’s E3 press conference.

Original: It looks like whoever’s running the PlayStation FaceBook page may have revealed something a bit early. For a brief time, two polls were posted asking viewers, “Who will win this Battle Royale?” The only problem is, in addition to known characters, BioShock’s Big Daddy and Uncharted’s Nathan Drake were both options. Neither of these characters have been confirmed, but this could change at Sony’s press conference this evening. Check after the break for screenshots of the polls.

Cloud Gaming Deals Rumored for E3

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
There’s a rumor going around concerning Sony and the cloud gaming services OnLive and Gaikai. It’s thought that next week during E3, they might announce a deal with one of these companies, and somehow integrate their service into the PlayStation Network. The two services both provide games you stream instead of download, with Gaikai focusing more on demos and OnLive on full releases. As the writers over at 1Up point out, OnLive seems to make more sense. Check after the break for more information.

Rumor: Assassins Creed and Ghost Recon coming to the PS Vita

Recently spotted were listings for Assassins Creed 3 on Zavvi.com and Ghost Recon: Final Mission on GAME UK, both games are made by Ubisoft and have yet to be announced. Ghost Recon has made an appearance on almost every system and hand held since its creation so this feels like a very likely step. Ubisoft has made it quite clear that they will be making games for the new Sony handheld and that they were very interested in making an Assassins Creed game for the Vita. Although we have not heard anything new on those statements, the fact that they exist definitely leans more towards these are true listings. Both listings have been removed, but not before someone could snipe a screen shot. What do you think, are these games really coming or is this some listing mishap, do you even want these games for your Vita–let us know in the comments.

Sine Mora Possibly Coming to PS3, Vita

Sine Mora, the mature bullet hell title developed by Digital Reality and Grasshopper, may finally make its way to the PlayStation Network if an Australian Classification website can be believed.

As of now, there are two different listings titled ”DR PS3 Working Title” and “DR Vita Working Title” that are both being published by Digital Reality Software. There’s no true evidence to point to it actually being the heralded XBLA title Sine Mora, but since the game was originally slated for a PSN release before seeing XBLA exclusivity, it seems likely. Many of the 360′s top exclusives find their way over to the PS3, so this wouldn’t exactly be an unprecedented move.

There’s little to go on now, but stay posted for further updates.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Rumored for Vita

A sequel to 2010′s surprisingly solid action title Castlevania: Lords of Shadow may be in the works, according to a trusted report. While it’s said to be coming to all major home consoles, a Vita version looks to also be in development.

It’s not often that we or any other site trust an anonymous source on a blog, but when it’s the same blog that revealed the existence of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale a few weeks ago, exceptions are made. There’s really no solid information on when the game will release or what it will exactly play like, but for those of you who reached the end of the original title, the sequel should be a significant departure in almost every imaginable way.

An E3 announcement is likely, but for now, it’s safe to assume that we haven’t seen the last of Gabriel Belmont.
