Derrick the Deathfin, an underwater papercraft game swimming its way to PSN, will be introducing fans of the Network to a world inhabited by “paper, goofy fish, paper, arcade action, paper, wanton destruction, and paper.”
Gordon Midwood of development studio Different Tuna may have a paper-heavy sense of humor, but the story of Derrick’s parents being brutally turned into soup is completely serious business. The sassy shark sets out on a revenge mission across the world to ease his pain, eating all types of dense treats for dinner as he battles other paper foes. Oh, this shark protagonist also jumps through a few burning tyres while snatching diamonds along the way. Just what you’d expect a paper fish to do, right?
In the words of Midwood, Derrick the Deathfin plays like “the illegitimate lovechild of Ecco the Dolphin and Sonic the Hedgehog.” The final product will contain 32 colorful levels set in 11 environments and four continents.
Expect this aquatic adventure just in time for summer, postponing most beach trips due to fear of shark attacks.
