No Deal Between Gaikai and Sony For Now

A rumor circulated in the weeks before E3 that Sony was planning to unveil some kind of deal with OnLive or Gaikai, but we now know for certain that Gaikai hasn’t agreed to anything. When asked by Eurogamer, Gaikai boss David Perry stated outright that no deal exists. He believes a lot of these rumors started because of a recent deal the company made with Samsung.

But, when questioned on the future of game streaming services he stated,

To give you my real take on it, I honestly can’t think of a future for the console companies that don’t include cloud gaming at some point. They can hold out as long as they want to, but at some point, you don’t want to be the console that can’t do this. To some extent, I expect all three of them will have this.

He also explained that the acceptance of these streaming services will be slow, but universal just like MP3′s or digital photos. So the possibility for this to happen still exists, it just probably won’t happen on current generation consoles.
