After a (really) long time in development, Retro City Rampage is coming to PSN sometime in May. Set to parody the likes of the Grand Theft Auto games (which are, themselves, societal satires) and celebrating everything retro about games, this open-world love letter to 8-bit gaming comes from the ambitious mind of Brian Pronviciano of indie studio Vblank Entertainment.
Originally set to come out on WiiWare and XBLA, news came today via the PS Blog regarding its release to the Store. With contributions to its development coming from just a handful of people, RCR boasts over 50 story-related missions, over 40 different vehicles to steal, over 30 arcade challenges… The list goes on. Consider this a retro gamer’s wet dream sprinkled with a charming, pixelated art style.
Look out for Retro City Rampage when it comes out in May. In the meantime, we’ll leave you with the “Biffman” trailer for the game below.
