DLC breathes new life into Sound Shapes

Sounds Shapes was released for the PS Vita/PS3 back in August to positive critical reception and high praise from players all over. Now, we’ve been given a chance to get back into the game, thanks to the release of four new DLC packs. These include?three Sound Packs and a Curved Terrain Pack. The Sound Packs each include five new instruments, five brand new Beat School levels, and?new trophies.

The sound packs are a mere $0.99 and the Curved Terrain pack is completely free. Also, sometime during December the developers will launch what they’re calling the “Community Milkcrate”, a way that will allow them to best share the best community levels by organizing them in themed albums. Seeing as there are currently over 15,000 user created levels, this seems like the perfect way to put the best ones out front. Keep your eyes peeled for when that goes live. Meanwhile, check out the trailer for the DLC, now available on the PSN Store.

PSNFancast Episode 9 – Imminent Segue

E3 is over, but to Angelo Valdivia, Chris Hague and Josiah Renaudin, that just means it’s time to discuss all the games and announcements from a crazy week. New releases and news of the world are discussed, but similar to last week’s show, the focus is on the gaming Christmas that is the Electronic Entertainment Expo.

What games impressed the staff at PSNFans? What was missing that everyone was looking forward to, and did Sony do what it needed to do at this 2012 show? All of these questions are answered, along with some serious fan feedback.

Please subscribe, rate and review the podcast on iTunes. We really appreciate it! Check us out on Twitter (@PSNfans) for some great contests, and don’t forget to send us questions to be read on the next show! Tweet at us with PSN-related inquiries, as well as 140-character opinions on your favorite game from E3 for our “This Week’s Game” segment. Sound Shapes Getting Development Input by Superbrothers, Jim Guthrie

Vita’s upcoming musical platformer, Sound Shapes, is currently seeing some extra content from the fine people over at development studio Superbrothers. The Sword & Sworcery house have been including S&S-style content in Sound Shapes, including the musical efforts of Jim Guthrie. This content can be found within the game in the form of an album titled ‘CORPOREAL’, which is actually a series of linked levels in the very distinct audio and visual style of S&S.

No specific release details were given regarding Sound Shapes other than “before too long!” For information about this new collaboration, head over to the PlayStation Blog.

PSNFancast Episode 5 – I Like the Way You Move

It’s another week of news-editor madness, as Perry Jackson of XBLAFans.com and Australian Correspondent Angelo Valdivia join host Josiah Renaudin for the latest edition of the PSNFancast. PixelJunk 4am and Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II are the most talked about new releases this week, which leads the crew on a journey down a pixelated memory lane. Datura is also broached, but the floating hand turns out to be just a little too creepy to dwell on.

Perry gets a chance to discuss all the independent games he recently saw at a Canadian event, including Sound Shapes for Vita and Retro City Rampage. More Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention is talked about now that Angelo has purchased the game for his Vita , but it doesn’t take long before the news of the world grabs the spotlight. The group then talks about the differences and advantages between Move-required and Move-enhanced games, while a slew of listener questions close the show.

Check us out on Twitter (@PSNfans) for some great contests, and don’t forget to send us questions to be read on the next show! Tweet at us with PSN-related inquiries, as well as 140-character opinions on PixelJunk 4am for our “This Week’s Game” segment. Also check out the latest edition of the XBLA Fancast for even more audio goodness (after you finish this podcast, of course).

Sound Shapes, the side-scrolling platformer that’s not afraid to break it down or raise the roof, has been recruiting a hefty group of contributors to round out the musical title. Electronica artist deadmau5 was revealed to be collaborating with developer Queasy Games at last year’s Spike Video Game Awards, and now, we finally have some video of what’s exactly been going down in the land of beats and notes.
