Starhawk campaign free for PlayStation Plus members

Starhawk hit retail shelves back in May of this year, bringing you a fast paced shooter with some high flying action mixed in. As of tomorrow, September 25, you will be able to pick this up on PSN and it comes in three completely different flavors. If you are a plus member, the single player campaign can be downloaded for absolutely no cost to you. Don’t worry though, if you’re not a PS+ member–we don’t know why you wouldn’t be–You can still pick this title up. Just how much of it you want is completely up to you though.

The full experience (single player+multiplayer) it will cost you $39.99. As you can see from the picture above, you can download just the multiplayer part for a fraction of the price ($19.99) allowing you to skip all that story stuff and get right to what you love best: killing people online. These new options have arrived in just in time for you to enjoy the new patch that has just been issued, bringing you three new game modes: assault, gatekeeper and arena. That’s not all they have added either, there is five new maps, three new load outs and a plethora of game leveling changes–the full list of features can be found below.

Starhawk Beta Impressions

Let’s face it; there’s a distinct lack of space westerns out there. Firefly, Cowboy Bebop, Borderlands… and now Starhawk. The spiritual successor to the cult hit Warhawk, Starhawk is a welcome iteration to the online-only multiplayer dog-fighting shooter that excellently captured frantic aerial combat in its time. So how do you improve on a game that already offers third-person shooting, driving and aerial dogfights?

Starhawk features a bevy of new tricks, such as the new “Build & Battle” mechanic that allows you to build turrets, bases, garages and launch pads on the fly (no pun intended) much like an RTS game. In addition to this is the popular level-up system found in most online competitive games these days to add value to your efforts. Oh, and now your hawks can transform into mechs. Mechs, people.  Read the rest of this entry »
